FETISH

a group exhibition

BOZOMAG is pleased to announce, "Fetish", a group exhibition of painting and sculpture at its Cresthaven location. "Fetish" will open on Saturday, March 29th. An opening reception will be held from 6pm until 9pm. The exhibition will be on view thru May 10th.

"Fetish" is a group exhibition that features works (both sculpture and painting) that exist as visually alluring provocations with hints of pictorial sensuality and tawdry sexuality, juxtaposed with assemblage and materiality-focused, abstractions concerned with hyper-specific artifacts and affects. Think "finish fetish", both smooth and crunchy, alluring and repelling.

Material specifications and technical applications contain fetishistic undertones within the nature of obsession. Latex, glitter, spandex and lace. The allure in adding more, maximalism and expansion - "adding" becomes the obsession, the idea of needing an extra something to get you there - to view and feel anything as finished.

"Fetish" as a group exhibition contains subtle fascinations juxtaposed within works adorned with complex materiality. Experimental executions with inuendo-laden inclinations result in out-of-body desires to collect, repurpose, stalk, assemble, or even voyeuristically transmute oneself into an object of obsession. Subtle suggestions are slammed up against aggressive maneuvers, occurring frequently throughout all collected works.
